Technology, Audi Extended Warranty
The model-specific standard and optional equipment can be found in the index from page 110 onwards.
Misfuelling protection
mechanically prevents incorrect fuelling of diesel
vehicles with petrol
Recuperation
Q5: Increasing the generator voltage converts kinetic
energy into usable electrical energy when the vehicle is
coasting or braking. This brake energy recovery is used
to assist the generator during subsequent
acceleration, saving up to 3 % fuel.
Q5 hybrid quattro: When the vehicle is coasting or
braking, the electric motor acts as a generator and
converts the vehicle’s kinetic energy into electric
energy. This is then stored in the lithium-ion battery.
This energy is used to operate the electric motor, and
also the car’s climate control and general electrical
equipment, and in this way distinctly improves overall
efficiency.
Start-stop system
Q5: helps to reduce fuel consumption and CO₂
emissions by switching off the engine when the vehicle
is at a standstill, e.g. at traffic lights. The starting
process is initiated as soon as the driver presses the
clutch or releases the foot brake for the vehicle to
move off again.
Q5 hybrid quattro: helps to reduce fuel consumption
and CO₂ emissions by switching the engine off when
the vehicle is at a standstill, during recuperation,
coasting and driving in hybrid mode with combustion
engine and electric motor
Electromechanical power steering
maintenance-free rack & pinion steering with speed-
dependent power steering; precise steering feel at
high speeds, assistance when parking
Manual transmission
6-speed, all-synchromesh, hydraulically-actuated dry
clutch with asbestos-free linings, 2-mass flywheel
S tronic®
The 7-speed, electrohydraulically actuated dual-clutch
transmission facilitates shorter gear changing times
and gear changes with virtually no perceptible
interruption in the power flow; can be operated via the
shift paddles behind the steering wheel (optional) or
the selector lever. In automatic mode the driver can
choose between the programs D (normal) and S (sport).
tiptronic
8-speed automatic transmission with Dynamic Shift
Program (DSP), can be operated via the shift paddles
behind the steering wheel (optional) or the selector
lever. In automatic mode the driver can choose
between the programs D (normal) and S (sport).
Front-wheel drive
quattro®
permanent all-wheel drive with asymmetric/dynamic
torque distribution, self-locking centre differential
with wheel-selective torque distribution, distributes
the drive force depending on the driving situation to
each individual wheel for controlled handling
Nitrogen oxide catalytic converter
Nitrogen oxides are reduced by the innovative nitrogen
oxide catalytic converter (DeNOx catalytic converter)
at the end of the exhaust pipe. A pump injects tiny
quantities of the biodegradable additive AdBlue. Refill
the separate AdBlue tank as indicated by the
information in the display of the instrument cluster.
We recommend having the AdBlue tank refilled by
your Audi partner (about every 15,000km).

Warning triangle
with bracket on the inside of the tailgate
First-aid kit
in the side trim of the luggage compartment
Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR)
for good traction, reduces the spinning of the drive
wheels
Electronic Differential Lock (EDL)
On surfaces with varying levels of grip, this start-off
assistant automatically brakes the drive wheels on any
surface that is too slippery, thereby ensuring smooth,
powerful progress; operates at speeds up to approx.
100km/h.
Electronic Stabilisation Control (ESC)
with roof rack detection and offroad detection,
networks the ABS, EBD, ASR and EDL with its own
sensors and compares the driving data with reference
data; provides better stability at all speeds by targeted
braking of individual wheels and intervention in the
engine management system. The system automatically
detects if a roof rack is fitted and adapts the ESC
accordingly.
ESC with electronic axle-differential lock
The electronic axle-differential locking function is
integrated in the ESC on front-wheel drive models. It
distributes the drive torque by means of targeted
braking actions, depending on the driving situation.
When cornering, the axle-differential lock actively
counteracts under or oversteer. The result is improved
traction and dynamic performance when cornering and
more precise and neutral handling (less understeer).
Agility during steering is also improved.
